A working harbour, a mile of strand, and a links course in the dunes — west Donegal at walking pace.
Portnoo (Port Nua) sits on a small peninsula in south-west Donegal. One side is Narin Strand — a long, pale beach with views to Inishkeel Island. The other is a sheltered harbour and pier. Between them: the village, the headland at Doon Point, and Narin & Portnoo Golf Club, a true links above the Atlantic.
It’s a place people come back to: families who learned to swim in the channel, golfers who chase weather windows, and anyone driving the Wild Atlantic Way who wants a night off the main road. Ardara is the nearest town for shops and music; Glenties and Donegal Town are easy day trips.
Stay questions — check-in, tides, airports — live in the Help Centre.
The practical bits guests always ask — full answers are in Help.
Buses stop in Ardara and Glenties. The last miles to the strand are easiest on four wheels.
You can walk to Inishkeel at low water. The causeway covers on the flood — check times.
Narin & Portnoo Golf Club welcomes visitors. Book ahead in July and August.
West-facing evenings over the harbour and strand are the reason people linger.
